Serum N-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen as a biomarker for predicting bone density loss in patients with Crohn disease

چکیده
Background The serum N-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (NTx) is significantly higher in patients with Crohn disease (CD) than healthy individuals and ulcerative colitis. This study aimed to investigate whether an elevated NTx level a risk predictor osteoporosis CD. Methods Based on the femoral Z-score decreased over 2-year period, 41 CD were divided into ΔZ-score <0 group (Z-score decreased) ≥0 did not decrease). predictors decrease examined. Furthermore, we investigated correlations between (which represents change period) mean levels biomarkers, including Disease Activity Index (CDAI), albumin, C-reactive protein, bone metabolism markers (including NTx) measured initially (i.e., our previous study) 2 years later (present study). relationships anti-tumor necrosis factor α (anti-TNF-α) therapy also Results Although there was no correlation CDAI ΔZ-score, albumin correlated (P<0.01 P = 0.02, respectively). tended be lower anti-TNF-α administration non-administration group. Conclusions These observations indicated that could useful marker for predicting mineral density patients. Anti-TNF-α maintained level, suggesting treatment may help control increased resorption

Usefulness of serum carboxy-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (ICTP) as a marker of bone metastasis from lung cancer.
BACKGROUND Serum pyridinoline cross-linked carboxy-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (ICTP) is a metabolite of type I collagen comprising 90% or more of organic substances in bone. Its usefulness as a marker of bone metastasis from malignant tumors is expected. METHOD We measured ICTP to evaluate its clinical usefulness for diagnosis of bone metastasis in 140 patients with lung cancer. ...
متن کاملSerum N-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen as an early marker of fracture nonunion in rabbits
The aim of the present study was to establish an experimental animal model of fracture nonunion, and to investigate the changes in serum biomarker concentrations in fracture nonunion. A total of 20 purebred New Zealand rabbits were divided into two group: A bone defect group and a bone fracture group. In the bone defect group, a 15-mm section of bone (including the periosteum) was removed from ...

متن کاملExpressions and clinical significance of serum bone Gla-protein, bone alkaline phosphatase and C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen in bone metabolism of patients with osteoporosis
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate the expressions and clinical significance of bone Gla-protein (BGP), bone alkaline phosphatase (B-ALP) and C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (CTX) in patients with osteoporosis (OP), and to provide evidence for developing individualized treatment plans. METHODS Seventy-two OP patients in our hospital were selected as an OP group, and another 72 h...

amounts and several DNA sources. Variant DNA amounts ranging from 9 to 640 ng of DNA template from either blood or serum gave reproducible genotyping results. The latter indicates the high flexibility of the method and allows for the omission of DNA quantification before genotyping. We conclude that this assay is a valuable method that allows simple and rapid high-throughput genotyping in the c...
